About Gin
Gin first came to pilates 11 years ago with a young, athletic and muscley body and a desire for a long and lean pilates physique. She soon found out that she wasn't half as strong as she thought and those tight, big muscles weren't necessarily desirable or reliable.

Through her 11 year journey, Gin has managed to make positive changes within her own body and posture and has become acutely aware of imbalances and bad habits that lead to injury. Gin has been teaching pilates for 6 years and her classes reflect her own experience of the pilates method with an emphasis on correct muscle recruitment, flow and working efficiently and with alignment.

Gin began her pilates training through Helen Tardent at Pilates Moves in Double Bay, Sydney. She teaches Helen's comprehensive and excellent reformer program at Hobart based studio, Club Salamanca. Experiencing a workshop run by Sally Anderson and Shauna Hall of Pilates International Training College led her to train with Pilates ITC in Sydney and she has since been totally blown away by the depth to which she can explore the pilates technique. She teaches under the direction of Mary McArthur using the Pilates ITC principles at Mary's Battery Point Studio.

Gin's other life
Gin is currently in the last year of her PhD studying the winter foraging range of Weddell seals in eastern Antarctica. The PhD has resulted in 3 trips to the French Antarctic station, Dumont d'Urville and consequently a handful of French Antarctic expeditioners that learnt pilates in Antarctica.

Gin is very grateful to have pilates in her life especially at the moment. Long hours sitting in front of the computer have lead to a tight lower back and unstable shoulder girdle which has been improved greatly by her own personal pilates practise. Spending so much time mulling ideas over in her head, Gin relishes the chance to get outside her head and into her body with her pilates practise and teaching. Gin feels privelaged to be able to help clients physically and emotionally through her pilates teaching and relishes the feeling of accomplishment and reward that goes with this.

The future
Pilates and science- the perfect combination? Sounds good to Gin.
